Staff Sergeant - WWII - George Ray Bird

George Bird became the rank of Staff Sergeant while serving in the European theatre of operations for the United States Army. This simply means he was a non commissioned officer (NCO), but was of the pay grade E-6 (E1 to E9, E9 being the highest). He would have been over a group of people to help train and manage affairs under the supervision of the Sergeant First Class officer. He served in the 125th Financial Disbursing Section which was stationed in Dorset, England.
